Bloodlust

To save her tribe, Malin of the Bear used forbidden magic. For her crime, she was cast out.

The clans met at the summit to settle a war. What happened there was not a settlement. The allies who stood at Malin's shoulder put their arrows into the backs of her people, and by morning there was no tribe left to exile her from.

She had already been cast out by then. That is the part she cannot put down. The magic she broke their law to use is the only reason she was not on that field, and the only reason there is anyone left to remember it happened.

So she is the last warrior of a people who no longer exist, carrying the thing they threw her out for.

The pair

Malin and Flick

Two outcasts, walking in the same direction for different reasons.

And a gauntlet. It saved her life on the mountain, and it has been working steadily on taking it back ever since. It is not a weapon she owns. It is closer to a debt with opinions.

One thing worth saying plainly

This is not the Baku-verse

No Portland. No Mist. No Oxivius, no Xlina, and no connection to the other seven books at all. Nothing here is a crossover and nothing here is a hint.

It is a different kind of fantasy on purpose. Mountains instead of cities, clans instead of demons, and a hero who is measured by what she is willing to carry rather than what she is willing to become.

In progress. No cover, no date, no preorder until all three are real.
